At present, India is importing plastic finished good worth Rs. 45,000 crores per annum. The industry is also exporting goods worth Rs. 40,000 crores per annum with just 1.5% of the global market share. Therefore, Indian plastic industry needs to become Atmanirbhar by focussing on import substitution. At the same time, the industry needs to tap the immense global opportunity by enhancing its export growth. To be able to achieve the same, Indian plastic industry needs to step up in to a phase of rapid development of plastic products (speed to market).
